Performer Roll Call

Good Music, Bad Advice: Super Fun Variety presents the Bad Advice Column + Sweet Soubrette

July 25 at the Gershwin Hotel

Sweet Soubrette's dark, edgy love songs feature the songwriting, vocals, and ukulele of former Mizz Greenpoint Ellia Bisker, a 3-time ASCAP Plus Award-winner, along with a sensational backing band of up to 8 musicians. Sweet Soubrette's music has been described as "dark vaudeville-pop" (Philadelphia Inquirer), "indie rock meets cabaret" (Worcester Magazine) and "a pinch of Regina Spektor quirk and a spoonful of old-timey burlesque" (Time Out NY). The 2012 EP What's My Desire received critical praise from reviewers, who called it "compelling bitter-sweet pop...of the highest order." Sweet Soubrette's third album, Burning City, is scheduled for release in fall 2013.

Doppelskope (Ora Fruchter and Christopher Scheer) is an interactive and absurd neo-vaudeville theatre group that makes wild, freewheeling new shows with puppetry, magic and clown in order to splatter your reality in an hour or less! Upcoming shows: Shrink: Puppet Therapy (a puppet improv show) August 8th at 8:00pm at The PIT.

Mistress B has appeared at The Box in NYC and London, the Museum of Sex, at Club XL, the Penthaus, and in burlesque/variety shows such as the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus Winter Cabaret and “Broadway Varietease,” for which she received rave reviews from Variety and The Village Voice. Internationally, she has been featured on the French TV special, “Sex Wiz Antione”, starring French celebrity Antione de Caunes. Her solo show, “Mistress B’s Latex Lounge” appeared at Vlada Lounge, the Bowery Poetry Club, and Club Helsinki in Hudson, NY. She appears weekly in NYC at Lips Restaurant, "The Ultimate in Drag Dining” and at the Cubbyhole Bar.

Matthew Silver performs at Union Square, Astor Place and Washington Square Park as the Village Idiot, getting people to act silly. You may have heard about him on the Gothamist, Timeout NY, The Village Voice, Brooklyn paper and Papermag or infamous sites like diehipster and Normalbobsmith. Just recently he made his TV debut on Discovery’s Science Channel show called Oddities. "My inspiration comes from my heart. I perform for smiles and laughter, loosening people’s armor, and opening up a portal for imagination, creativity and love."
